Last Thursday night Social start-ups returned and a group gathered in the recycled shipping container cafe ‘The Hive’ which is part of the amazing initiative that is Growhampton – based at Roehampton University.
The Hive have been a fantastic support to The Feel Good Bakery so it was great to partner with them for this event! They served delicious coffee, home made cakes, sweet potato fries and delicious cocktails whilst we listened to some incredible speakers.
As well as hearing from Joel, Millie and Aimee from the Growhampton team we also heard from Solomon, co-founder of The Brixton Soup kitchen.
Joel talked about the importance of working collaboratively through community and communication and how these principals have helped them to develop the amazing edible campus in Roehampton.
Solomon told his personal story about leaving school with no GCSE’s and going on to set up the Brixton Soup kitchen against all odds and without any government funding! As well as running the soup kitchen, they have 60 families on their books who they visit through outreach. This amazing project is growing and helping more people week by week.
It was hard to leave the evening uninspired.
Thanks to all who helped out to make it such a special evening!
