We first met Amanii when she was five years old. Now she’s a confident sixteen year old about to start college. Read her plans for her future in her own words:
“I’ve just finished my GCSE’s at school and from September I’ll be going to Kingston College to study philosophy, psychology, sociology and English literature and language.
My aspiration in life is to become a lawyer, because I don’t feel there is enough support for criminals when they come out of prison and I think there is a lot of injustice against those who have committed crimes. If not, I would like to become a psychologist because I would like to be able to help people with their problems and empathise with what their going through.
Regenerate really helped me with my communication skills (they’ve helped me with a few presentations which I wasn’t confident to do before). They made me see a new perspective of the world, especially when we went to Kenya this year. It taught me that you need to be grateful for what you have and there are always people in worse off situations.
I have been part of lots of different projects with Regenerate including the mentoring collective. Here I get together with my mentor and we look at my goals for the future and how i will be able to achieve this.”
