Regenerate were able to welcome XLP youth workers to our World Changers evening.
XLP stands for ‘The eXceL Project’ is a registered charity at the cutting edge of urban youth work in the UK, working to create positive futures for young people. The charity was founded by Patrick Regan nearly 20 years ago.
The evening gave Regenerate’s own young people the opportunity to listen to stories about the impact of youth work, and what it means to those working alongside and mentoring young people. It led to a thoughtful discussion about what or who might inspire Regenerate’s future leaders. We were all asked which person had inspired us and what impact they had had on our lives. For Charlie – one of Regenerate’s young people – he was inspired by his mentor and the “safe second home regenerate provided for him”.
The evening also shared the learnings of two of Regenerate’s young leaders following a summer trip to Romania – these two young women had come back profoundly changed about what they had seen and experienced there – and with a determination to help others understand what life might be like outside of Roehampton.
A huge thank-you to XLP for coming and supporting this event.
