Get Helping – Growhampton leads the way!

Today, we had the privilege of visiting Growhampton on the campus of Roehampton University. If you haven’t visited this inspiring initiative we highly recommend you do! Growhampton is a sustainability programme with a big focus on food. It is delivered by Roehampton Students’ Union at the University of Roehampton. Growhampton hosted us, along with a group of students from Ark Putney Academy and some members of Putney Community Gardens.

This was part of a bigger 3 week project we have been collaboratively working on.
It’s been exciting, educational and full of new experiences and ‘firsts’!

Some of those firsts today at Growhampton included, pressing apples and making our own apple juice ( which, it turns out, tastes
much better than shop brought apple juice), making a fire from scratch and cooking our own lunch on it (surprisingly delicious),
having a tour of the edible campus with lessons along the way from soil guru Joel (from Growhampton), tending to the campus
chickens and some gardening.

Giving us opportunities to roll up our sleeves up and get Growhampton dirt on our hands!

Today, was a unique and memorable experience – thank-you Growhampton.
